Air medical transport requires a high level of expertise to ensure the good health and safety of everyone involved. The flight and maintenance crews of Summit Air Ambulance are tenured professionals certified in their respective fields and adhere to strict operational procedures. Our team is dedicated to maintaining equipment, personnel, and patient safety each and every day.
Summit employs an elite team of veteran pilots who have extensive experience flying in mountainous terrain, and in all types of weather and visibility conditions. Every Summit pilot has at least 3,000 flight hours, and maintains multiple certifications for medical flight transport and flying in night and low visibility conditions. Summit's aviation crews include both helicopter and airplane teams available 24/7/365.
Research shows that the use of navigational aids such as radar altimeters, night vision goggles, and infra-red situational awareness technologies significantly increase flight safety. The aircraft flown by Summit Air Ambulance utilize these technologies when appropriate, greatly increasing Summit's ability to fly safely in difficult or low visibility conditions in the mountainous terrain of northern Nevada.
Summit Air Ambulance maintains its aircraft in strict accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) maintenance standards that dictate close monitoring of each component on every aircraft. Our crew is accountable for total compliance with industry standards and federal regulations, logging all maintenance performed on each aircraft as required by the FAA.
