The base of operations for Summit Air Ambulance is in Elko, Nevada which is centrally located for service to Elko, Humboldt, Eureka, Lander and White Pine counties. Summit will pick up patients for transport within 150 miles of its bases in Elko and transport to the nearest appropriate medical facility, generally within 350 miles of Elko, including trauma and specialty care centers in Salt Lake City, Boise, Reno and Las Vegas.

Four regional hospitals and several community clinics are located within this service area, and Summit flies to and from all of them.

Regional Hospitals (including but not limited to)

  • Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital in Elko
  • Battle Mountain General Hospital in Battle Mountain
  • William Bee Ririe Hospital in Ely
  • Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca

Community Clinics (including but not limited to)

  • Owyhee Hospital in Duck Valley
  • Nevada Health Centers in Wendover

By partnering with medical facilities in and around the primary service area, flight crews are able to transport critically ill or injured patients to the nearest hospital that provides the level of care required by the patient.

Summit Air Ambulance also provides trauma scene and inter-hospital transports that originate in their primary service area directly to specialty trauma care centers in Reno, Boise, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas (including but not limited to)

  • University of Utah – University Health Care
  • Renown Regional Medical Center
  • St. Mary's Regional Medical Center

Summit Air Ambulance covers a wider service area with combined helicopter and airplane transport capability than any other single emergency medical responder in northern Nevada.
